We’re hosting a mushroom foraging hike this Sunday, August 30. This event will be the last foraging hike we do for the Summer at this location.
We’ll meet at 9 a.m. at the Ingles in Pickens, South Carolina, and then travel together to the trail. Please get gas before you arrive. It will take us about an hour to get to the trail. Bring plenty of water, or any trail snacks you may want.
The trail is rated moderate and includes a hike to a waterfall and overlook. The waterfall does have a swimming spot. The area we are heading to is in Western North Carolina. The area is a temperate rainforest, and sometimes quick afternoon showers may occur, so bring a raincoat if you’d like. This may not be the best hike for anyone with a pre-existing condition that may limit their enjoyment due to occasional steep inclines.
Along the way, we’ll search for wild mushrooms and discuss what we find. A yoga session in the forest will be provided by Andrea Woods from Embodied Wayfinding.
